History Right Here
“All history is local”—an aphorism sometimes credited to John Adams—certainly applies to Wrightstown! Already settled nearly a century before the American Revolution, Wrightstown’s long and rich history encompasses much more than the storied events of 1776.
Wrightstown celebrates the nation’s 250th anniversary in a uniquely local way through a star-spangled season of feature programs at our historic 1802 Octagonal School Open Houses from July through October:
- Sunday, July 19—"Pen & Ink: The History of American Penmanship” Robert Hurford will invite visitors to learn penmanship as taught in early schools, and practiced by Timothy Matlack, famed calligrapher of the Declaration of Independence.
